The CS Yacht Owners Associations
bring together people from all over the world who own, have owned or
wish they owned a CS yacht. This wonderful line of racer/cruisers was
built in the 70s and 80s, in sizes ranging from 20' to 40'. Canadian
Sailcraft unfortunately stopped manufacture in 1992 - a victim, like
many other quality boat companies, of the ill-advised U.S. luxury tax.
But their boats sail on, providing tremendous pleasure to their proud
owners.
There is a web site
devoted to information of interest to CS Yacht owners and enthusiasts.
It contains Buy & Sell listings, links to other web sites of
potential interest, information about some owner associations, and much
more.
There is also a mailing list server
for the convenience and enjoyment of anyone interested in CS Yachts. It
allows you to participate in discussions with others who share that
interest. It is an excellent resource if you have a question that might be answered by other CS sailers and owners. You need not be a member of CSOA to join this list. A
searchable archive of all the mesages (well over 20,000) that have been
posted since the list server's inception is available.
Searching
the list server archives certainly provides a wealth of information.
However, it has no particular organizational structure to it. For
example, if you were interested in racing CS36s or choosing the best
prop for a CS30, you would just have to try your luck at key word
searches.
The 700+ subscribers to the list server have a
tremendous amount of information, knowledge and experience with CS
Yachts and sailing in general. This Wiki (What is a wiki?)
provides an opportunity for them, and others with similar interest, to
create a reference source concerning CS Yachts and related topics. It
is beginning with no structure imposed. As (and if) people contribute
information, a structure can evolve.
This Wiki is public (open
to all comers) and unmoderated (anyone can contribute). It relies on
people's good will to keep it accurate and civil. If you have something
that you think will be interesting or useful, add it. If you find an
error, you can go ahead and correct it. There is no need for criticism
and please avoid flame wars. Make this a place your fellow boaters will
want to come. The Wikipedia Etiquette page provides behavioral guidelines that should apply here as well.
To get started, create a new page (click on the Add sub page link in the bottom of the Navigate pages block to the right) or go to an existing page and either post a comment or edit it. Check the [Site Map] (link in Navigate pages box) to see all the existing pages and the site structure (which can be modified there by drag & drop).
So -- do your best to make this a really good resource for all of us who love CS Yachts.
Where can I go to have the plexi replaced?
I'm very pleased with the boat but is there anything i should be wary of before the final deed is done?
1. Has any one experienced this before?
2. Has anyone ever removed and rebonded the panel on the cabintop.
3. Has anyone removed and replaced the cabin headliner? Seems like a big job. Any idea where to get the headliner material?
I am looking for advice with respect to rebuilding or replacing. Pro's vs. Cons I guess.
Jim, Toronto
We have a problem with our simpson lawrence 1200 anchorman windlass motor and I was wondering if anyone knew what the compatible starter motor replacement might be. Great if someone can point me in the right direction.
Cheers

Does anyone know if a 12" or a 13" diameter prop is recommended?
Thanks,

I have a 1983 CS 33, and it's time for me to replace the sheaves in the (welded) mast base exit boxes. For that matter, the masthead sheaves should be replaced as well. Can someone direct me to instructions?
Thanks in advance .... Tim (Winnipeg)
