Hi, Have sailed on a large number of sailboats, including CS 27, 30, 33, 36T. Find these boats solid and of good quality. Am interested in the CS36T because of owners information and reviews in CY magazine and Practical Sailor. I would prefer the 6ft 3 in draft. However, in talking to owners, I get varying information as to the viability of the deep draft. In considering sailing on the east coast of Canada, deep draft is not a problem down there. In relation to the Great Lakes, in particular Georgian Bay, etc., some boat owners vow that the shallow draft is the way to go. Would you give me your experienced information on this topic? I would certainly appreciate it very much. Way to go for this new site!!!! James

I own a deep draft C36T that I have sailed in the North Channel of Georgian Bay for the past 18 years. There are some marinas that are inaccessible with our draft and others that are no problem. Careful reference to the charts let's us sail just about anywhere. We have touched bottom three times, each as a result of knowingly going in to very thin water. I have never felt the deep draft is a liability in Georgian Bay, northern Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Hope this helps.

I have sailed Goergian Bay and the North Channel for over 20 years in my CS36T with shoal draft. Until recently I have not experienced any problems. However with the constant dropping of water levels I would not suggest a deep draft for this area. Unfortunately the future indicates further water level drops.

Ken McGarvey

Anyone know a parts supplier for the Velvet Drive series 1000 transmission? I'm looking for a dip stick.

I gave up on finding a dip stick for a 1000 series velvet drive. I finally bought one for one of the transmissions that they still support. It is exactly the lenth of the old dipsticks full mark. I drilled the end of it since it is a round aluminum extrusion. Tapped the hole and put a screw in it with loc tight. I then cut the screw off to give the same overall lenth as the old dip stick

Please let me know if you have a source for the toerail on a CS 36T. Mine got chewed up when a dock line broke and sawed on a finger pier for a few days.

I have found a number of parts for my CS 36-t at Holland Marine in Ontario, http://www.hollandmarine.com/index.htm
