I just bought an '87 CS22 and am very new to sailing. Does anyone know where I might find an owner's manual or any other information about my boat?

I have owned a '76 CS22 for about 6 years now. What do you need to know?

I recently bought a 74 CS22 in a state of disrepair. Wondering if anybody has any details about the swing keel pivet assembly. From the outside it looks pretty rusted, is this something that should be checked and/or replaced?

Congratulations on your new sailboat! I also own an 74 CS22 that I've enjoyed for about a dozen years. My keel looks scabby like yours. They were modeled out of pig metal and rust badly in saltwater. I replaced the line with stainless steel airplane cable and braided line as I was uncertain of its age and reliability. The keel assembly will be removed, sandblasted and epoxied when the boat is painted, creating less drag and a more slippery surface. It will probably be treated with antifouling at the same time. It has never failed me but has a annoying clunk, clunk at anchor which can be usually remedied by raising or lowering it a bit. I may try to address this issue with bushings when it is removed. I would be happy to share any information or ideas with you and will try to answer any questions which you may have. I have an owner's manual and plans for a cradle. I have spent many $$ on refurbishing the original trailer as it is necessary for me to transport the boat from my mountain home to the coast. I have replaced the original mahogany rudder with a new one, and may consider selling the original for the right price. Happy to be of help in any way I can!

Do you have any idea where i might be able to get a copy of the manual? I plan on doing the majority of the work myself, and it would be nice to have some reference. Regarding the keel, is the pivet just a press fit pipe? From the outside it looks hollow. Can i just pound that out to remove the keel, or is there more to it than that?

A copy of the CS22 owners manual is posted on the CS22 Discussion group. The group is posted at: groups.yahoo.com You will need to search for and join the CS22 group. Once enrolled, check in the Files section of that group. You will find many helpful items, along with a scan of the original CS22 owners manual.

I have a keel problem with my cs 22.I believe it is a corrosion problem that is not allowing it to lower or retract without external help.I am going to lift the boat out of the water ,pull the swing keel out sand blast it and epoxy it also clean up to keel pocket and also epoxy it then reassemble. it.What about replacing the pin that the swing keel pivots on, are they just a 3/4 inch stainless bolt. Please if any one can give me advice on this it would be highly appreciated. Respectfully Jim Alexander
